We have been very busy here at the ranch. The Alpacas were shorn, vaccinated and wormed in April.  Sherm and our younger daughter, Becky, vaccinated and wormed all of the sheep in June. Sheep were rearranged for breeding in July in hopes of lambs for the Christmas season. Kathy has been busy dyeing yarn and Sherm has been busy with fencing, painting, and many other ranch and property related projects.

This Saturday is National Alpaca Farm Day and we are one of the Texas farms participating. We are listed on the national website for this event. Last year people came from as far away as Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and south of San Antonio. We had a great time. (Hours, address and directions are available here.) Please join us, we would love to introduce you to the farm, if it's your first time out, or give you a friendly "welcome back", if you've been here before!

Again, we will be collecting food for the local food banks. Please bring non-perishable, undented cans, and other dry goods that have not expired. A ticket will be given for every packaged or canned food item you donate. You can select which drawing(s) you would like to enter.

October 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th Flying Q Ranch will be doing a 'trunk show' at the Happy Ewe in Jonestown, during the Hill Country Yarn Crawl. Be sure to stop by and see Kathy and her beautiful hand-dyed yarns. (Please check out our "Upcoming Events" page for more details.)

We will resume field trips in November. Please email Kathy to make arrangements in advance:

Our older daughter, Jennifer, has been busy developing a website for the ranch In addition, Kathy has been posting pictures of her hand-dyed yarn on Facebook. Jennifer is also exploring avenues for the hand-dyed yarn to be sold on the internet. Our ranch business keeps her pretty busy.

We feel very blessed to have our family members volunteering their time. Even the granddaughters Nicki, 13 years old, Makaylee, 10 years old, and Olivia 32 months old like to help feed the animals.

We hope to see you soon. Please check our website for upcoming events.]]>
